Director of School Age

Department: C&FS School Age
Location: LOWELL, MA

The Director of School Age is responsible for managing all activities related to operations and development of CTI’s School Age Program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with parents, children and staff to provide quality program services that promotes self-sufficiency for families maintaining enrollment, attendance and success in the program.
  • Provide program orientation for new families and ensures communication between parents and the School Age Site Coordinators.
  • Ensure enrollment standards and work as liaison between Central Intake and all School Age Sites.
  • Supervise the implementation of program curriculum at site(s) including identifying resources, and training and instructing program staff around curriculum activities.
  • Monitor and ensure implementation of schedules and curriculum by program staff.
  • Work with staff, coordinators, social service worker(s) and administration to appropriately respond to the varied needs of children and families.
  • Ensure all program policies and procedures are met via continuous communications with site coordinators.
  • Responsible for oversight and development of staff at multiple school age sites, including regular supervision in accordance with CTI and Division of Child and Family Services procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with EEC regulations for school age programs at all site(s).
  • Responsible for the purchasing of materials and supplies.
  • Coordinate staff trainings and meetings.
  • Collaborate with the public schools, parks and recreation, Department of Child Family Services.
  • Manage staffing level to ensure high quality adult/student interactions and EEC ratio compliance.
  • Participate as a member of the Key Management Team by participating in both interagency decision-making process and Key Management Meetings.

  • Prepare and deliver timely, constructive, and comprehensive performance reviews in accordance with organizational deadlines and performance management policies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Background in School Age Programming.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality within the workplace.
  • Strong proven leadership and decision making abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle budgetary matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend and work with complex governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively supervise, motivate and develop staff.
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with coworkers and those outside the organization.
  • Background in family child care and/or school age services preferred.
  • Ability to articulate program goals and policies to participants, other community agencies, and vendors.
  • Experience in program planning and administration.
  • Proficient computer skills required in basic computer software and data collection systems.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of the participant population.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or English/Khmer) a plus.
  • Evidence of recent Mantoux, physical exam, MMR.
  • Must be able to pass a Background Record Check, including fingerprinting.
  • Participate in a minimum 10 hours of EEC approved training.
  • Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid as required by EEC.
