Housing Quality Inspector
Pay Range $25.50 - $27.50 per hour

Position Summary
The Housing Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that families are accommodated in safe and sanitary units according to the Housing Quality and NSPIRE Standards regulations from HUD and EOHLC.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Complete inspections and re-inspections, in accordance with HUD Housing Quality Standards and/or NSPIRE Standards, EOHLC guidelines and CTI Housing Department policies; complete all forms required for each inspection in a timely manner
- Responsible in each inspection for ensuring proper adherence to HUD’s, SEMAP rules and indicators of: Quality control Inspections; Enforcement; Pre-contract Inspections and NSPIRE/HQS Inspections
- Identify NSPIRE/HQS fail items and immediate safety items and document properly on inspection reports, addressing all safety issues to the Inspection Manager in a timely manner
- Properly document all items that will implement financial penalties to Landlords (Abatements)
- Comply with the schedule of inspections established by the Inspection Coordinator. Travel to various locations to perform inspections
- Assist the Inspection Coordinator by completing daily paperwork, scheduling, rescheduling, and maintaining inspector’s territory in compliance with CTI’s, EOHLC, and HUD’s regulations
- Educate landlords regarding HUD, EOHLC, and CTI regulations and requirements
- Report and identify all marginal units and work with Housing Manager for corrective action
- Work with tenants to assure that their units are kept in a manner that complies with all regulations and family responsibilities approved by EOHLC and CTI

Qualifications
- HS Diploma or equivalent education
- Good customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic knowledge of computers for entering data.
- Desire to work with low income, culturally diverse, and at-risk families and individuals
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality of information
- General knowledge and previous experience with construction and repair of dwellings
- Valid Driver’s License
- Comfort with up to 90% local travel
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year experience in housing inspection, code enforcement, and/or knowledge of Mass Lead Paint Laws
- Associate’s degree
- Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish)
- General knowledge and previous experience with construction and repair of dwellings
