We are seeking a Staff Accountant I who will be a member of Fiscal Department. The Staff Accountant I is responsible for various accounting activities, which may include preparing journal entries; reconciling accounts; invoicing contracts; analyzing expenses; financial reporting and analysis; and other duties as assigned. All work to be performed in adherence to the organizationís fiscal policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of the financial systems.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and assist with the month end close process.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review coding to ensure accuracy.
  • Meeting processing and reporting deadlines.
  • Process check runs as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather, analyze and interpret financial information.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for general ledger transactions.
  • Assist with the closing of contracts and fiscal year audit.
  • Integrate a DE&I lens in all activities, encourage colleagues to engage in DE&I work, and contribute to our mission of building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization for our employees, clients, and partners; requires ongoing investment in a personal and professional journey to understand identity and address unconscious bias, power, and privilege.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 4 years previous related experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with and meet the needs of people from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, and identities, including underserved communities and people from the different racial groups, socioeconomic statuses, nationalities, and languages that make up CTIís clientele.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team to promote the goals of the program and Agency.
  • Experience with federal & state grants & contracts preferable.
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, and non-profit accounting software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
