Senior Corps Volunteer Staff Specialist (Part-Time)

We are seeking a Senior Corps Volunteer Staff Specialist to be responsible for providing effective volunteer and client support services by assisting with the AmeriCorps Seniors recruitment, training and enrollment process.

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Coordinate and monitor project activities including recruitment, in-service training, create and update volunteer application packets; process applications; interview potential volunteers and establish eligibility; create new volunteer files; provide volunteer orientation and assist with volunteer training; performing reference checks and ensure compliance with funding source background checks.
  • Maintain active involvement with community organizations, other national service programs, and other senior and volunteer programs to enhance the total project effort.
  • Assist with the creation and the updating of volunteer recruitment materials; identify locations and coordinate recruitment events.
  • Oversee Senior Companion assignments including assisting volunteer station staff to develop volunteer assignment plans, activities and monitor progress toward achieving the expected outcomes and impact specified in the assignment plans.
  • Assist with volunteer management, including completion of paperwork, entering information into the database and assessing volunteer satisfaction with placements.  Provide training, case management and support throughout the entire time of volunteer service.
  • Local travel is required to perform periodic site visits as well as attending training conferences conducted or authorized by AmeriCorps Seniors (CNCS) as funding allows.
  • Provide assistance with processing payroll and travel reimbursement for Senior Companion Volunteers.
  • Integrate a DE&I lens in all activities, encourage colleagues to engage in DE&I work, and contribute to our mission of building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization for our employees, clients, and partners; requires ongoing investment in a personal and professional journey to understand identity and address unconscious bias, power, and privilege. 

Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Associates Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with diverse populations.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality of information.
  • Knowledge and experience working with low income, culturally diverse, and at-risk individuals.
  • Ability to have access to vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to successfully pass background checks as required by CTI and the AmeriCorps Seniors regulations.
  • Strong ability to problem-solve.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build partnerships.
  •  The ability to work flexible hours including some evenings, an occasional Saturday, and to travel to local community sites in the area.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or English/Khmer) preferred. 
  • Ability to work effectively with and meet the needs of people from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, and identities, including underserved communities and people from the different racial groups, socioeconomic statuses, nationalities, and languages that make up CTIís clientele.
