Assistant Center Director

The Assistant Center Director is responsible for working directly with Teachers/Family Service Workers to ensure that high quality educational activities are taking place in the classrooms and that families are being engaged in the program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure, with the Center Director, the effective day to day operations of the Center and assume the role of the Center Director in their absence.
  • Ensure Head Start and Early Education programs are in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
  • Make recommendations for hiring’s, promotions and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain and improve the highest quality program staffing by providing orientation and training.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to assigned staff,and communicate effectively expectations and desired outcomes.
  • Schedule and arrange for substitutes, in collaboration with Lead Teachers, to ensure that staff ratios are consistently met.
  • Ensure that classroom environments are nurturing, educational and support the individual needs of children.
  • Collaborate with the Education Coordinator to ensure quality of classroom instruction by monitoring and conducting regular observations and walkthroughs.
  • Direct the development and assessment of weekly curriculum plans.
  • Serve as a resource to the teaching staff on program policies and procedures
  • Actively engage families to be part of the center activities and the child’s educational experience.
  • Actively work with families to identify specific personal and family needs and provide referrals to community resources that can help meet these needs.
  • Maintain accurate case records and reports as required and update client information in Child Plus database.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Minimum one-year supervisory experience in an early education setting required.
  • Strong proven leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Desire to work with low income, culturally diverse, and at-risk families and individuals.
  • Excellent Customer Service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient computer skills required in basic computer software and data collection systems.
  • Ability to show proof of full Covid 19 vaccination or medical/religious exemption by that date.
  • Ability to work effectively with and meet the needs of people from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, and identities, including underserved communities and people from the different racial groups, socioeconomic statuses, nationalities, and languages that make up CTI’s clientele
  • Excellent crisis management skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or English/Khmer) are a plus.

LICENSES and CERTIFICATES:

  • EEC Licensed Director I required
  • EEC Director II preferred
