Assistant Director of Transportation

Assistant Transportation Manager

Pay Range $ 70,000 – $85,000

Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Transportation with a focus on Safety is responsible for developing and training current and future Bus Drivers and Bus Monitors in conjunction with supporting the Director of Transportation

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Train Bus Drivers and Bus Monitors on the policies and procedures of monitoring and driving responsibilities, including bus evacuation training. licensing for drivers.
  2. Provide instructions to employees/new hires to obtain/maintain CDL licensure.
  3. Develop and Maintain Driver/Monitor Training Programs and Records
  4. Schedule First Aid/CPR classes, Bus Evacuation Training
  5. Maintain PQ Registry of Drivers/Monitors.
  6. Perform observations of Drivers/Monitors.
  7. Maintain Accident and Drug & Alcohol Logs.
  8. Keep Drivers current on FMSCA rules.
  9. Follow Transportation policies and procedures as outlined.
  10. Work collaboratively with the programs to understand the programs designs and how best to support the drop off and pick of children
  11. Participate as a member of the leadership team and attend all required agency and program related meetings.
  12. Assure all policy and procedures are current and compliant
  13. Participate in and make recommendations for hiring Bus Drivers and Monitors. Keep staff up to date with all rules, regulations and procedures relating to the Transportation Department
  14. Uphold the values of CTI – Equity, Integrity, Compassion.
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. 2 years as School Bus Driver working with Children, 2 years Supervisory experience
  2. High School degree or equivalent.
  3. Pass CORI/SORI/DCF/Fingerprinting background checks
  4. Pass Pre-Employment Drug Test
  5. Valid CDL A or B with P and S Endorsements.
  6. 2 Years of Experience in supervising Pupil Transportation.
  7. 3 Years Clear MVR of Violation/Accidents.
  8. Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  9. Ability to motivate students and collaborate with others around program issues, and team teaching.
  10. Valid Massachusetts School Bus Drivers Certificate.
  11. Valid School Bus Driver Instructor Certificate.
  12. Current or be able to obtain Notary Public within 3 months of hire
  1. Certified Passenger Safety Technician.
  2. Proficient Computer Skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet and comfort learning new software and tracking systems.
  3. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
  4. Evidence of recent Mantoux test, physical exam and MMR Vaccine

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish, English/Khmer English/Portuguese)

The base salary range represents the Agency’s good-faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation within the range will be based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications.
